In this past summer, while Ersan Ilyasova was an unrestricted free agent, there were reports of the Brooklyn Nets wanting to acquire İlyasova through a sign and trade. It would have been a straight up trade between Kris Humphries and İlyasova given that the Dwight Howard trade would fail, which it did. İlyasova ignored other offers and decided to resign with the Milwaukee Bucks for a four year, $31.6 million contract. He earned the contact with a great year, averaging 13 point and 8.8 rebounds last season, while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field and 45 from the three.
Recently, Gery Woelfel, a writer for the journal times who follows the Bucks, joined Robert Haack's Diamonds Basketball Post Game show and had some interesting things to say. Woelfel stated that the Nets are still interested in Ersan İlyasova, currently looking for ways to obtain him. MarShon Brooks, Tyshawn Taylor, and Andray Blatche were the most talked about players who would be involved in the deal but Brooks was the most sought out player. Although this is far from surprising, given the amount of minutes Brooks plays, I still think this is a little far fetched. İlyasova is an good player but has a lengthy contract. He's been struggling this year and has been battling injury. It would be a quick mover for both teams and I don't think it would benefit the Nets. Sure it would be another big body who rebounds but the Nets have that. The Nets problem right now is getting consistent production from their stars along with finishing games. They should keep MarShon Brooks and develop him into their future starter. Hopefully, this is just a rumor and Brooks continues to get more playing time.
