Nets vs Wizards Recap: Deron Goes Off

Nobody expected what went down at the Barclays Center tonight. The Nets, and Deron Williams, welcomed  the Wizards with an offensive onslaught and beat them 95-78.

The first half was all Nets. They started the game off on a 16-0 run, and that was in large part thanks to Deron Williams. He made eight consecutive three pointers before his first miss. He set an NBA record for most three pointers made in a half with nine. He was pretty much the Nets offense as he scored 33 of the teams 59 points in the first half. He set franchise records for most points in a half and most made field goals in a half with 12. The team defense was probably the best we have seen in a half this season. Everyone was contributing on that end of the floor and they held Washington to just 33 points.

When the second half came along, Deron continued what he started in the first half for a bit. He hit his 10th three pointer of the game to start off the third quarter, and that became a new Nets franchise record. But after that, he cooled off. The Nets had another typical Nets third quarter putting up only 15 points while allowing Washington to go for 25. The fourth quarter was just as ugly, but equally as ugly for both teams. The Wizards took the the "Hack-A-Reggie" strategy with six minutes left in the fourth quarter and, as we would all expect, he missed most of them. With a minute left, Deron Williams made his 11th three pointer, but that would be his last. He fell one short of tying the NBA record for most three pointers made in a game.

There was no doubt about who the player of the game was. Deron Williams finished with 42 points and five assists. He shot 11-16 from three point and 15-24 overall. Reggie Evans added a huge double-double putting up 11 points and grabbing a career-high 24 rebounds. Brook Lopez added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Final Score: 95-78 Nets
Most Disappointing  Stat of The Game: 18 turnovers for the Nets
Most Promising Stat of The Game: 11 made three pointers by Deron Williams
Scariest Moment of The Game: Washington pulling out the Hack-A-Reggie
Best Moment of The Game: Deron Williams nine three pointers in the first half.
